Celebrate Galentine's Day

Sick of all the Valentine’s Day talk? This year, I decided to embrace a holiday that falls not on February 14th, but the 13th—and it’s called Galentine’s Day

First a fictional holiday created by Leslie Knope in the show Parks and Recreation, this day gained popularity among woman as a day to celebrate the joy of female friendship and platonic love. As Leslie explained it:

“Every February 13, my lady friends and I leave our husbands and boyfriends at home, and we just come and kick it, breakfast-style. Ladies celebrating ladies. It’s like Lilith Fair, minus the angst. Plus frittatas.”

A long, boozy brunch filled with waffles isn’t the only fun way to celebrate this Galentine’s Day…as burning candles at home with friends is just as lovely!

For this Galentine’s Day, I’ve decided to highlight women’s candles in honor of all of the strong, smart, and fiery females in fandom that we know and love! These queens each have their own unique Book Scents fragrance and are gathered here in the spirit of friendship and giving! It wouldn’t be a bad idea to give one or two of these book-inspired candles as gifts to your favorite lady friends…or to keep some of these for yourself! ;)

Jocasta: Jamie Fraser’s auntie is a force to be reckoned with, but Jocasta’s scented candle reminds us that there’s a caring heart behind all that bluster.

Jocasta smells like…a North Carolina garden: lush roses, honeysuckle, jasmine, and bright citrus.

Beth: friendly, kind, and compassionate, Beth is not the type to shy away from confrontation…even in the face of danger! Her inquisitive nature, outspokenness, and bravery to protect those she loves, are what us fans love most about her.

Beth smells like…soft roses, peaches, apricot, and ginger.

Michaela: relentless in righting wrongs, Michaela is a fierce general over the archangels in Heaven. She faces the unthinkable as the protagonist in the End of Days series by Meg Collett and not only protects the Earth, but also saves her best friend and true love, Gabriel! Now this is a woman I want on my side!

Michaela smells like…a divine blend of grapefruit, clementine, strawberries, peach, rose, and sweet musk.

Claire: feisty, clever, and brave, this Sassenach never fails to speak her mind. When I think of Claire, I think of strong females everywhere who adapt under changing circumstances, love fearlessly, and work passionately!

Claire smells like…delicate fresh herbs and flowers— heather, jasmine, and citrus.

Brianna: the perfect mix of her parents Claire and Jamie Fraser, Brianna is a strong, modern woman with Jamie-like qualities! She’s stubborn, loyal, calculating, and also very logical!

Brianna smells likea fresh blend of green aloe, jasmine, and soft woods.

Pamela: the fearless female lead that we all know and love in Exit Unicorns by Cindy Brandner, Pamela crosses an ocean and a lifetime of memories in search of her long lost love…only to embark on even greater adventures! Pamela brings two men into her world in this electrifying tale of love and danger, set in 1960s Ireland.

Pamela smells likethe sweet scents of strawberries and cream.

Lou: Passionate and effervescent, Lou is one example of a strong female who can overcome any obstacle. In The Coincidence of Coconut Cake by Amy Reichert, after Lou finds her fiancé in bed with another woman, she turns her struggling French restaurant into a success…and the rest is up to you to find out! No spoilers! J

Lou smells like…a decadently sweet blend of coconut, whipped cream, and maple bacon.
